I've decided to create as many Christmas presents as I can this year. It's a personal challenge of mine to complete my entire Christmas list (which is huge)for 300 bucks or less. So far, I've spent 80 on materials. This has made:
several name tag garlands
several paper cone wreaths
several paper cone crosses
many paper roses and flowers of all kinds
beads
puppets
I've started a My Little Pony complete dollhouse with accessories-made from a large bookcase
gorgeous ornaments
burlap letters, stockings, garland, curtains, table runners, etc.
tote bags
and the ingredients to make pamper baskets-lip balm, bath salts, lotions, creams, soaps, teacup candles, etc.
wool socks
wool mittens
wool scarves
PVC pipe collapsible puppet theatre
extra large checkers and checkerboard set
Not bad for 80 dollars, huh?
And I have pictures of most of these things, but they are stuck in my phone and I can't find the cord. Here are some of them from other sources:
Martha Stewarts' Paper Rose tutorial, Crafts Anonymous, Jenna DeAngeles, Wellness Mama, Jennibellie, Paul from Puppets and Stuff Puppets, teacup candles, totes similar to these, dollhouse from bookcase (only decorated as My Pretty Pony),
I have several other things I've made, but I don't have links for them. And not everything is finished. But everything is at least started, which is something. I have four completed puppets for A's puppet theatre, I have the bookcase primed and ready for paint for the My Little Pony houses, and I have most of the stuff for the pamper baskets. I just need the dried corn for the heat wraps.
One of the most fun things I've made lately is this: Recycled Paper Flowers.
These were just wonderfully fun to make. I used up most of my scrap paper, all the left over bits from various projects, the junk mail that's been collecting on the kitchen counter, all kinds of ugly scrapbook paper, and failed art work. Each piece of paper has it's own colors and character, and once they are cut up into flower shapes and decorated-why, they are stunning! From Ugly Duckling to beautiful Swan!
After I made the flowers I let them dry. I still have to poly them for extra shine. They look beautiful in my work room. I even added beads and glitter glue. Maybe tomorrow I'll poly them and be done with them all.
I do have several things left to create, but until Tarzan is finished, I really wont have the time.
I'm sitting here admiring my latest creation-the fabulous Christmas ornaments. They are so simple to make, yet very elegant and striking on the tree.
Directions:
You will need clear ball ornaments, found at any craft or big box store. A clear floor cleaner-I used Mop and Glow because that's what I had in the cupboard-and a variety of glitter colors.
Remove the metal top from the clear glass ornament ball.pour in some of the floor cleaner/wax and swish it around until the entire inside of the ball is covered. Let the extra drain into the second ornament.
Pour three or four colors of glitter into the ball you just drained of extra floor wax. Put your finger over the hole in the top. Shake well.
The inside of the ball should be completely covered with glitter. If it is not, add some more to the ball and shake some more. If it's still not covered-you may not have enough floor polish/cleaner-add more and swirl again. Making sure to cover those spots not covered by it the first time and add more glitter. No big deal.
These are really quite lovely.
