While this may seem like a stupid thing to get excited about, I don't care. I'm excited!
My new business cards came today!
And they are cool.

The costumes will be great for the upcoming show. (They really are spectacular. Our costumer is a creative genius, and I'm not exaggerating a bit.) Our director, Tom, talked with a musician/choreographer(?) today and that went well too. The drops look like they will work in the space, which greatly reduces the amount of work for me to have to create them from scratch.
So in just a couple days we've pulled an entire show together with minimal stress and strain on everybody. That's really something, people. For those of you not in any way "theater connected", it's almost unheard of. Of course there are still the issues with the lights, but I have my wonderful electrician brother-in-law working on that for me. We will see what simple, multipurpose LED lighting systems we can find and how much they cost. Getting the information to the board is the objective, what they choose to do with the information is up to them. This project has really given me a new burst of creativity. I'm working on more miniatures, designing more dollhouses, have a lead on a possible dollhouse builder, and am happy as a pig in mud. When I have a thousand things to do, I guess that's when I'm at my best. After DS's open house, I slept 14 hours straight.
Me. The insomniac. Wadded up on the couch with two dogs sleeping on me... And some people don't believe in miracles. HA! I met a charming man today. We had a meeting this morning about a theatrical production which will be opening in August. This gentleman was an actor on Broadway. For 10 years. This is an amazing thing! I don't believe I've met anyone with that sort of theatrical background before.
Perhaps I have, I've met lots of people and some of them are quite famous in their own way. None who've worked on Broadway for 10 years straight though. Due to some unfortunate experiences with some people connected to this new production company, those I'm close to are reluctant to participate with this group. But after my meeting I spoke with my associates and explained the situation. They were all very willing to let the past remain in the past and move forward without any problem. I hope this goodwill can continue, and as long as the two people in question stay the heck out of things, all will be well. If they stick their noses into stuff-well, things may turn ugly really quick. Because I am the liaison between the two groups. And I take that very seriously. Don't piss off the red head. Words to live by. This new alliance will benefit both groups as each has something to offer the other. One group has nothing physical, other than a dilapidated old building. The other has everything except the experience and expertise of a Broadway actor. Benefits all over the place for everybody. I love this!! Last night our youngest son graduated from high school. The last of our five kids! No more kids in school. It's the best feeling in the world! Good grief, I never thought we'd get here...
No more parent teacher conferences, no more calling in for them when they're sick, no more choir concerts, sporting events, theatre productions, etc. No more chasing all over the place to get everybody everywhere they have to be at the right time...How on earth did we do it all these years? Man, I'm tired just thinking about it. So now our two youngest will be in college. This is fantastic. DS received a full-ride scholarship from Caterpillar. This is a wonderful scholarship which will cover everything except housing and includes a job following completion of the program. He will receive full full benefits too. This is a tremendous blessing and an awe inspiring answer to prayer. |
