We have wrapped up Saugatuck Civic Theatre's production of Peter Pan!
The cast was delightful. McKenzy knocked it out of the park as Peter Pan, Caroline was fun as Hook, Maddie was happy she went for the role as Tiger Lilly, Wendy, Michael and John were all perfectly cast too. Each one brought such fun to their roles, and that made the show work. The little people were delightful as lost boys and fairies. Just adorable. Marilyn was perfect as the fairy mama, and the pirates were an absolute hoot!
Our stage manager was forced to move her wedding up (due to some issues with her husband's ex) and actually married the morning of our final Saturday performances. She was there for the 2:00 p.m. show and again for the 7:00 p.m. show. What can I say-we theatre folks are a devoted lot. That girl is an amazing stage manager and an even greater person in general. One of my favorite people.
My dear friend, Laurie, did our costumes. They were wonderful, as usual! The fairy costumes were precious, the dress for Mrs. Darling was perfect in every way, Wendy's dress was lovely, the p.j.'s for Michael and John were also exactly right. My personal favorite was Peter Pan's costume. I loved the uniqueness of it, along with the creative use of foliage. The pirates were perfect, and the lost boys were cute too. Tiger Lilly's costume was great. I liked the way the skirt had all that fringe, yet she could still dance really well in it. And the top had the perfect amount of sparkle and sprinkles. The Indians were exactly what was needed-just the right colors and with just the right pop.
Without having seen the show-I was back stage the whole time-I really can't comment on the specifics of the performances. I just regret not having been able to see any of them. From most of the comments I've heard, I think the future looks bright for Saugatuck Civic Theatre.
I wish them great success in their upcoming endeavors.
