This past weekend I stayed the weekend with the little boy of friends of mine. They were out of town and asked me to babysit their son.
It was quite an adventure. I picked Devin up at noon. He stayed at our house with A and L (oldest DD watched the kids) while DH and I went to our nephews wedding. After that Devin and I went all over the place.
We shopped 'till we dropped. I had to pick up some things for Tarzan, and I found a cute little wood racecar kit which Devin was thrilled with. We went to the Dollar Tree and I picked up a few more Tarzan things and a Lightening McQueen coloring page for the very persuasive child. I'm telling you, he should be a lawyer. He can sweet-talk anybody...
After that we went to Walmart, where he did not get any toys, but did get a thing of mini chocolate chip cookies. After that we were hungry and went to Steak and Shake.
Then it was off to home, where Devin had his bath and about 10 stories while I was getting soaked as he splashed and crashed his planes onto his battleship. Then Devin made his racecar and colored his picture. Then it was way past his bedtime, and he reluctantly went to bed.
How he woke up at 7:05 a.m. the next morning, I have no idea. He should have been zonked until at least 10. But he was up and ready to go. So he had breakfast and we started our day.
We made a puppet. A felt hand puppet, very similar looking to a Muppet. It's adorable! Devin picked out everything he wanted for his puppet, and I sewed it and used the hot glue gun for him. Then we played cars for awhile. Then he made a Christmas tree ornament. Then it was lunch time and he settled down to eat and watched a bit of T.V. for the first time the entire weekend. Shortly after lunch his parents came home and we performed a short puppet show for them.
It was a busy, exhausting, but enjoyable weekend for both of us. I hope Devin had as much fun as I did!
