So today was a catch up day. Pulling the house back together after the flooded basement situation, clearing out all the stuff left in the garage from all the shows this summer, finishing up some exterior painting (now that the rain stopped), and rearranging what is left of my painting equipment and supplies from my paint contracting business.
I had loads of totes filled with sketches, notes, scripts, paint clothes, empty paint cans, and general junk. Why on earth do I throw everything together and tell myself I'll take care of it later? Never again! Always take care of the stuff when I unpack the van. Always.
At least there's more room now that we had to throw out so much stuff. And much more is going. We are thinking of renting dumpster and just filling it with the crap we don't want or need. Quick and easy way to free up a lot of space. Which we are in desparate need of.
But I digress.
I also used up several nearly empty cans of spray paint on my wood tool boxes. I decided to use them to hold art supplies. It's not like I'm ever going to use them for their original purpose, which was carrying my tools for jobs. They are the perfect size for that, small enough for the essentials, yet light enough to haul around wherever I needed to be. Scott built three of these for me. The largest had wheels and a smaller tray on top to hold things like tape measures, pencils, bandages, hand sanitizer, tissues. I could stack two rows of quart paint cans side by side in that one for a total of 20. The smaller ones had my wallpaper stuff in one and my hand tools, caulks, solvents, brushes, rollers, pans, etc. in the other. The three worked great, and I knew where everything I needed was.
Now the boxes are multi-colored and artsy-fartsy looking. Very good for art supplies. I really just want to empty the shelves in the back room and put all my labled totes on them. That would give me so much more room in my work room and also in our family room.
When Paige moves out and takes all her worldly crap with her, Evan will move into her bedroom. He will need to clear out some of his crap too. Then we can work on the family room, which will also be the kids play room.
Shoot. I didn't have the chance to burn two worn out chairs and some other large pieces of trashed beyond recognition furniture. Again, the extra room we gain is worth it.
