The past three days have been audition days for Wizard of Oz. We saw many wonderful children, a few wonderful adults, and need some more to fill our cast. I'm on the hunt for a Latino Tinman. This is a must have for one of my newest, but rapidly becoming, dearest friends, Tom. He is directing the WoOz, and is an incredibly talented person. His voice is amazing, he's delightfully funny, gentle in spirit and an all around good guy. I just love him.
He and his partner have a charming son, and this wee one has my heart wrapped firmly around his little finger. What a precious kiddo!
An absolute delight.
All of them. What a pleasure it is to meet fantastic people when you least expect any thing fantastic at all. I am astonished by the fun I'm having, and not even feeling guilty about having it.
That's quite an improvement.
This not working thing is really the best gift I could ever give myself. To much pressure and stress burn me up. I've had more fun in the last couple of weeks than I've had in the last couple of years. And this, unfortunately, is no exaggeration.
My parents and Mother-in-law came over after church for dinner. Delicious. Red skinned mashed potatoes and gravy, beef roast, asparagus, watermelon, salad, and fresh strawberry shortcake for dessert. Scrumptious!
Tom and I went to see costumes, sets and props at the G.R. Civic this past Thursday.
What an awe-inspiring place that is! To see all the costumes hanging neatly on their racks, shoes in totes, hats in totes, sketches, mannequins, everything so beautifully professionally done! It's our teams dream to make our space at school as efficient, neat, organized and usable as the space I saw at the G.R. Civic.
After that we drove to a warehouse where 5 of the "seasonal" shows are stored each year. They will rotate them out as a new one will need to come in, but there are always 4 - 6 full shows stored in this particular warehouse.
We made a list at each location of the items we wished to rent, then it was off to props. We made our list there too and were on our way home in about an hour and a half. (Which just goes to show how organized these people are.) I aspire to reach their level of professionalism. I am still in awe.
I have been so busy lately, I haven't had a second to write or update.
Youngest son starts his college career tomorrow. Yes, his program runs all year long until he graduates. He's pretty excited to get started.
But he's still my baby boy.
Going off to college.
I'm old.
